Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Remote

Schedule: 8am-5pm EST


Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets for government contracts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract requirements. Forecast financial performance and monitor budget variances to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Government Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulations specific to government contracting, such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Implement internal controls to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Financial Planning and Strategy: Develop financial strategies and initiatives to support business growth and profitability. Collaborate with senior management to identify opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and risk management.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor finance team members, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional growth and ensure high performance. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic insights to internal stakeholders, including senior management, project managers, and functional leaders.


Required Skills:

  • At least 5 years Financial Management experience
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Understanding of government contracting regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Familiarity with contract types, compliance requirements, and indirect rate structures is essential.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, interpret trends, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making including financial modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing budgets for government contracts, including cost estimating, budget preparation, and budget monitoring.
  • Experience with cost control measures and identifying cost-saving opportunities is valuable.
  • Proficient in using financial systems and software commonly used in government contracting, such as Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or Oracle. Experience with integrating financial systems and optimizing their use for government contracting requirements is beneficial.
  • Experience in leading and managing finance teams, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members and ability to foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment is essential.
  • Capacity to analyze complex financial issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions. Critical thinking skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions are necessary.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with TM1 involves proficiency in using the software for various financial and business planning tasks. This includes creating and managing TM1 models, cubes, dimensions, and rules.
  • Identifying opportunities for enhancing TM1 applications and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and usability.
  • In addition to technical and financial skills, effective communication, leadership, and strategic thinking are essential for success as a finance manager in a government contracting company.
  • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends is also important to ensure compliance and competitive advantage.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field is usually the minimum educational requirement for a finance manager position.
  • A strong foundation in finance and accounting principles is essential for success in this role.
