The manager will be a key member of the team leadership and assume a leading role on individual product and project teams for transactions. As a manager, he/she will need to lead and develop the analysts, and support and assume leadership and responsibilities from the Directors and Vice President of M&A. A M&A Manager will be a key member of cross-functional teams supporting and accelerating the strategic growth of 7‑Eleven. He/she will assume leadership responsibilities across departments and work together with other leaders to evaluate, analyze and consummate transactions. Working closely with the other M&A Manager, Directors and Vice President, he/she will be part of world-class M&A team and have direct deliverables to, and interaction and opportunities to influence, the senior management of 7‑Eleven on strategic initiatives. The ability to quickly decipher information, evaluate opportunities and creatively solve problems will be key to being successful in this role. This leader will need to internalize and utilize the 7‑Eleven Leadership Principles and Digital/Agile thinking to move quickly and decisively.

A successful manager in M&A will accelerate the development of and lead the analyst team, provide support for the directors and vice president and provide leadership across all M&A projects, even assuming the lead role on smaller M&A deals and on select M&A divestiture activity.

  • Quickly analyze and evaluate opportunities and present such to the directors and vice president.
  • Lead team to develop detailed acquisition site assessments and characterizations for each site.
  • Provide clear input and direction to the initial economic assumptions for investment modeling.
  • Determine key drivers for a successful transaction based on appropriate cross-functional input from internal and external stakeholders and experts.
  • Be able to interface with all levels of the organization and parent company (Seven-Eleven Japan & Seven & i Holdings).
  • Review and approve pro-forma and valuation models for acquisition opportunities.
  • Coordinate scenario and sensitivity analyses to further analyze strategic investment decisions.
  • Develop a letter of intent with the Legal department and submit valuation and deal terms to seller/target/broker.
  • Provide leadership and support to drive the Interim Period/Due Diligence/Planning/Acquisition Integration.
  • Track, direct and lead all M&A divest activity, including valuing and negotiating sales/price and contract terms and the transition process to the new owner.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure that Legal, Accounting, Operations, IT, Real Estate, SEI Fuels, etc., are all properly informed and engaged with each divestiture project.
  • Lead analysis, valuation, negotiation, etc on small acquisition opportunities, including valuation and contract negotiation, working cross functionally (e.g. SEI Fuels, Merchandising, Construction, Acquisition Integration) to develop support and buy-in for assumptions used to complete M&A models.
  • Work with Digital and Business Development teams to evaluate and analyze prospective early stage or start‑up companies for strategic ventures that could include material investments, joint ventures, partnerships and/or acquisitions.
  • Lead cross-functional analysis of goals and potential acceleration of such strategic plans through structured transactions.
  • Analyze financials and potential operations of prospective partners and be a key member of leadership team determining the potential for a transaction and structuring and leading such transaction negotiation and integration.
  • Provide other technical support for M&A deals, including Project Forum, lease reviews, existing 3rd party contract reviews, etc.
  • Develop and maintain tracking tools to assess performance of historical acquisitions and integration.
  • Assist with the transfer of the signed deals to the Acquisition Integration Team

Qualifications

MS Office Suite (in particular, Excel, PowerPoint & Word) expertise, Smartsheets, Salesforce, Mapping/GIS Programs, Trade Area Systems

5+ years of M&A/Investment Banking/Private Equity/Venture Capital/Corporate Development/Similar Experience; Bachelors/4 Year Degree (MBA/CFA is preferred)

General Understanding of Retail, C-Store and Real Estate Industries; technology and start-up/emerging company knowledge is a plus.
