The Position:

We are hiring an experienced Senior Director, Corporate & Business Development to help us continue to grow. This individual will report to Veracyte’s EVP, Chief Business Officer. Location: Remote - San Diego or San Francisco Preferred

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate unmet customer and market needs to identify and execute on potential new business arrangements (i.e. licensing, OEM, development, supply, co-promotion)
  • Develop and execute value-accretive partnering strategies aligned with business objectives to pursue short and long-term revenue growth for the company
  • Manage business relationships and counsels internal and external business partners on transaction and strategic issues pertaining to licensing/strategic alliances
  • Lead evaluation, negotiation, structuring and closing of transactions, with the ability to operate in a fairly independent manner
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal functions (Research and Tech Dev, Product Development, Finance, Operations, Legal, Marketing and Commercial) to assess market potential, financial viability, technical relevance, and proprietary and legal implications
  • Develop business case(s) for new business opportunities and deliver oral and written presentations to Senior Management to communicate opportunities
  • Manage business relationships and counsels internal and external business partners on transaction and strategic issues pertaining to licensing/strategic alliances
  • Gather and communicate intelligence by reading published literature and patents and press releases, attending conferences and trade shows, networking, and seeking other sources of intelligence
  • Advocate for the continuous improvement BD processes, creative deal structures and contracting

Who You Are:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with at least 15 years of business experience or MBA/other advanced degree, with at least 5 years relevant partnering, licensing, business development, mergers/acquisitions, consulting, or banking experience required
  • PhD preferred; some degree of technical acumen in biology/genomics/NGS required
  • Experience in oncology and/or molecular diagnostics required
  • Significant experience in contract negotiation required
  • Strong business, negotiation, organizational project management, analytical decision-making, and influence management skills required
  • Ability to connect disaggregated technical, commercial, and financial domains to see value
  • Ability to effectively communicate, build relationships, and influence a broad variety of business leaders, both internally and externally and of varying levels from functional personnel to senior leaders of companies

Specific Lab Site: San Francisco Bay Area or San Diego

The anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in San Diego or San Francisco $208,000 to $286,000.

(All) The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
